A Guide to Creating the Perfect Picnic

One of the highlights of childhood is going to a picnic with family and friends. It gives them the chance to bond with them outdoors and relax at the same time. Children would always remember the happy times they share with their loved ones. Of course, it's not only young children who love going to picnics. There are couples on a romantic date, friends out to have a good time, and the whole family including the relatives.

So how does one create the perfect picnic?

First, decide on the location. The place depends on the personalities of the people - some prefer having a picnic in their own garden. But others want to have it someplace further, like by the sea, the park, or near the hills where the view is better.

The next thing to do would be to prepare some of the supplies the night before. Preparing beforehand will avoid you panicking at the last minute. It is a good thing to list everything needed so that your don't forget anything. The essentials should include a picnic basket or picnic backpack, a cooler or flask, and a picnic blanket. Disposable utensils are a good option when eating out as it will cut-down on the cleaning up afterwards. Other necessities would include sun cream, umbrella and rubbish bags. When going to an unfamiliar place, it is also best to take a map.

Before deciding what food to bring with you, you need to know a little about where you're going. Does the place where you're going to have tables? How many people are coming? Does anyone have allergies? These questions will help you decide what's best to make. Our blog includes a number of recipes ideal for a picnic. Cold drinks are favourable during picnics but include different types of drinks: water, soft-drinks, juice for the kids, and even beer and wine (for the grown-ups).

Picnics should be fun so make sure you pack a few games. Group games are perfect - like charades, football, rounder or even a frisbee is highly recommended.

Adding music during the picnic will up the mood. Connect your phone or MP3 player to portable speakers to create a party atmosphere. Be mindful of others around you though and make sure the volume is kept at a reasonable level.

Then, it's simply a case of eat, drink, play and have fun. Enjoy your perfect picnic.
